Deagen Named to Chancellor’s List as Dual Credit Student

Jun 2, 2025 | Press Releases

The rural high school students of our area have been successfully enrolling in dual credit academic coursework for a number of years now, however this opportunity has been expanded in the last few years by the ACCSS program. The Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS) program works to ensure that every student, regardless of background, has access to the opportunities needed to thrive in the pursuit of their educational and career aspirations by providing academic and career resources, guidance, and comprehensive support essential for students to attain post-secondary credits or workforce career credentials. This may involve students starting to take their dual credit classes at an earlier age, providing the opportunity to take a broader variety of classes that better suit the post-secondary needs and interests of the individual students, and providing scholarships and student success strategies to encourage a broader population of students to embrace the opportunity. While many students may take a class or two a semester, a few have aggressively pursued the opportunity, saving time and money in the long run as they pursue their college goals!
Chayse Deagen is one of those students.
To be named a Chancellor’s Scholar, students must earn a 3.75 GPA, complete at least 12 credit hours (excluding developmental courses) as a full-time college student, and pass all their courses. Schulenburg High School salutatorian, Chayse Deagen, earned this honor at Blinn College District for the Spring 2025 semester and is the first ACCSS dual credit student to do so this semester. Ms. Deagen graduated from high school having earned 33 college credits from Blinn College District as a dual credit student. Her overall Blinn GPA was a 3.81! She will be attending Texas A&M University in the fall and plans to study Biomedical Science.
ACCSS is a collaborative program involving Blinn College District and eight regional independent school districts. The original five that founded the partnership include Flatonia, Schulenburg, Weimar, Columbus and Fayetteville ISD’s. Now in their expansion phase, ACCSS has added Moulton, Dime Box and Sealy ISD’s. ACCSS partners believe that rural youth deserve the opportunity to dream big and pursue their goals!
