ACCSS to Offer Boot Camp for Students Needing to Show They Are College-Ready

Jun 6, 2025 | Press Releases

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is a series of placement tests for students enrolling in public colleges and universities in Texas. The tests help Texas schools determine whether they are ready for college-level courses in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Not all Texas college students have to take TSIA2. If they have met college readiness standards on a standardized test like the SAT or successfully completed a high school college preparatory course, they may be exempt. Students should contact the college they’ll be attending to see if they need to take TSIA2. Additionally, students interested in beginning their dual credit journey and who are still in high school are welcome to attend.

The Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS) program will be offering a FREE mini-Boot Camp to help students who attend partner high schools to prepare for the ELAR portion of the TSIA2 test. The workshops will be held on Monday and Tuesday, June 9 and 10 at Blinn College – Schulenburg Campus (100 Ranger Dr., Room #121). There will be two options daily:  10:30 AM – 12:30 PM OR 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Students may choose the session that works best for their schedule and should attend both days to receive all of the content. Then on Wednesday, June 11, those who wish to take the TSIA2 ELAR test may do so. Testing fees will be underwritten by ACCSS. A photo ID is required for students to test. Students interested in participating should RSVP to the ACCSS Coordinator of Student Success Initiatives, Sarah Nickel, at sarah.nickel@blinn.edu.

ACCSS works to ensure that every student, regardless of background, has access to the opportunities needed to thrive in the pursuit of their educational and career aspirations by providing academic and career resources, guidance, and comprehensive support essential for students to attain post-secondary credits or workforce career credentials. ACCSS is a collaborative program involving Blinn College District and eight regional independent school districts. The original five that founded the partnership include Flatonia, Schulenburg, Weimar, Columbus and Fayetteville ISD’s. Now in their expansion phase, ACCSS has added Moulton, Dime Box and Sealy ISD’s.
