Fayette Community Foundation Awards Over $47,000 In Community Impact Grants

LA GRANGE, TEXAS – On Wednesday, November 15th, the Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) held a ceremony for 11 recipients of the 2023 Community Impact Grant at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club in La Grange.

Starting this year, the Community Impact Grant was funded by FCF’s community-led and community-driven programs, The Red Door Fund for Mental Health and The Green Door Fund for Workforce Development & Education. Each organization was presented with their grant and given the opportunity to speak briefly about what their organization is planning to do with the funds.

Since the inception of the Community Impact Grant Program in 2015, FCF has invested $43,500 in local nonprofit programs enhancing local arts, culture, social welfare, health, conservation, and education. This year, the Community Impact Grant Cycle awarded a total of $47,120 between six mental health programs and five workforce development and education oriented programs, bringing the year-to-date total to $90,620 invested into the most pressing needs of our community.

The organizations granted through the Red Door Fund for Mental Health were Turtle Wing Foundation for counseling scholarships, Guiding Hearts Counseling for salaries for interns to expand their capacity, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to be used for mental health crisis intervention for the deputies of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Schulenburg ISD for a therapy dog program, and Weimar ISD for use toward the random acts of kindness guidance program at Weimar ISD.

The organizations granted through the Green Door Fund for Workforce Development and Education were The Alliance for College and Career Student Success for their Career Quest program, St. James Preschool for an Internship Program, the La Grange Education Foundation for new welding booths, Boys & Girls Club of Champion Valley for upgraded technology at the club, And Then a New Day for operations support of a Transition and Workforce Coordinator, and Hesed House to install new technology in their Connected Learning Center.
