Jul 3, 2023 | Press Releases

Transitioning to college can be an exciting yet intimidating experience for many high school students. With new and unknown academic and social challenges on the horizon, it’s normal for students to feel overwhelmed. The good news is that a summer bridge program can help alleviate some of the stress and make the transition to college easy and enjoyable. The Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS) is offering a unique Summer Bridge Program that is has programming that targets all high school students, particularly those who are considering taking dual credit classes. Dual credit classes are taken while in high school and count as both a high school and a college credit. Through ACCSS, both academic and technical dual credit classes are offered through Blinn College for our ACCSS partner schools.

Some students may be apprehensive about dedicating time during their summer to a transitional bridge program, but participating has many benefits. The ACCSS Summer Bridge Program will cover topics such as time management, organization, goal setting, study skills, stress management, note-taking, dual credit FAQ’s and more. The goal is that students who complete the ACCSS Summer Bridge Program will enter their fall academic year with confidence, a network of support, and a strong foundation for success. All high school students who will attend our ACCSS partner campuses next year are encouraged to participate, particularly those considering their post-secondary goals and the best pathway to achieve these.

The ACCSS Summer Bridge Program will be offered July 18-20, 2023, from 8 AM – 12 PM at Blinn College – Schulenburg Campus. All incoming freshmen through graduating seniors are welcome. Students should check in at the Liberal Arts building, room 120. This workshop is free of charge.
